Bravinsan is a German-French composer, pianist and producer. Born in Germany to Sri Lankan parents, raised in London, UK, and now based in Paris, he trained as a classical pianist at Trinity College of Music in London. Raised on a diverse palette of musical influences, Bravinsan co-founded the electronic duo Jaffna in 2016. He is currently crafting a solo project that reconnects with his roots through songs performed in Tamil, his mother tongue.
Bravinsan is currently based in Paris, where he works as a film composer and producer. His recent work includes co-composing the score for Olivier Peyon’s feature film Arrête avec tes mensonges alongside Thylacine. He also composed music for the France Télévisions documentary L’Homme de Boue, which explores the life and work of French sculptor and painter Olivier de Sagazan, as well as contributing to a sound design and immersive experience project for the Paris-based medical technology company Zoī. Upcoming projects include the documentary Diosa (Canada/Vixens Films), a Band à Part Films documentary on the life of a Sri Lankan refugee in Switzerland (Une Terre Sableuse), and the crime-thriller TV series Singapura for Canal+. Bravinsan also regularly works as a session pianist for other composers, including Saycet (Changer l’eau des fleurs, Les Disparues de la gare for Disney+) and Uèle Lamore (Maigret for PBS).
In addition to his work for film, Bravinsan produces and arranges music for both his own projects and other artists, and regularly tours as a pianist with Thylacine. He has performed at prestigious venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris, Seine Musicale, Salle Pleyel and L’Olympia. He is momentarily touring Thylacine’s ROADS vol.3 album, visiting major European cities as well as an extensive tour across France.
